We, Go4Mobility, are one of the main players in the national market operating in the Mobile Communications industry, offering services in the area of digital payments, through the bill / mobile phone balance, mostly known in the market as Direct Carrier Billing.
In one of our business areas, we act as a facilitator among content providers (also known in the market as merchants or content providers), telecommunications operators and end users. As the main areas of activity of our clients, we are talking about areas such as streaming channels, news, games, music, radio, mobile applications, among many others.
Go4Mobility, in the last quarter of 2019, took another important step in the fight against fraud in WAP Billing for the purchase of digital entertainment content and other digital services.
With more than 15 years of experience in the national and international market, in recent years it has confronted huge challenges in the fight against cyber fraud, along with telecom operators and other companies that are also harmed by hackers, such as the giant’s Google and Facebook.
It is very important to understand the context of this theme of the monetization of digital content by merchants, because it occurs through the purchase of space in digital media (media buying), mostly through networks of affiliates or their own platforms such as Google Ads. Although there are strong anti-fraud systems, numerous sources of traffic continue to allow new fraud techniques and draw enormous financial advantages from them.
In fact, over the last few years, Go4Mobility has adopted the best practices and trends in the market, highlighting the recent partnership with Evina, a French company recognized worldwide for its anti-fraud and cybersecurity solutions, through the well-known DCBProtect platform, which allows the automatic detection and blocking of fraudulent situations, as well as helping to improve the customer’s experience in a secure manner. DCBProtect operates in more than 50 countries, blocks 300 million cyber-fraud situations per year, protects 6 million transactions per day and collaborates directly with multiple world-renowned operators such as Bouygues Telecom France or Proximus Belgium, among other mobile operators and aggregators worldwide.
Thus, Go4Mobility is proud to be able to detect and block more than 99% of these situations that mainly harm mobile operators’ customers, managing to protect these same customers from viruses, phishing, spoofing, malware (malicious applications) and, for example, identity theft. And do it in real time.
«The purpose of this malware is to click on banners ads or to exploit cryptocurrencies, and all this is going on in the background, so users do not realize fraud is happening», says Abdelaziz Khaled, Evina’s Cyber Security Expert.
“The vulnerability of the mobile phone user and the ease of buying digital goods through it, available to anyone of any age, is the main reason why we are constantly investing in ways to combat fraud, with the aim of ensuring maximum security for all those who use the Internet and provide a service of excellence to customers of digital goods, as well as mobile operators, directly impacting on the reduction of complaints and claims for refunds,” says Maria Cordeiro, Business Unit Director of Go4Mobility.
As a result of the above, we have achieved an improvement in the quality of service with the owners of the content (merchants) – our customers, allowing the possibility of direct access to the platform through their credentials since fraud threatens all users without any discrimination.
“All our offer of means of payment must be based on the guarantee of security for all: mobile operators, customers and owners of content, so that no one is penalized by situations related to identity theft, viruses or use of technological methods that lead him to reveal personal data and/or confidential (Phishing) and so that one of the areas with the greatest future and potential for growth, can grow in the most healthy and credible way“, reinforces Maria Cordeiro.
The detection and blocking of fraud in WAP billing, through websites, has been and will always be one of Go4Mobility’s priorities in order to provide the customer with a unique and safe experience.
By the end of 2020, Go4Mobility will expand the product portfolio of its platform, providing brands with an increasingly complete portfolio of means of payment: invoice and/or mobile phone balance, such as Credit Card, MBWay, Entity and Reference, becoming an increasingly complete and robust platform.
Besides Portugal, the company is present in 10 countries, with 3 offices globally, Spain, Angola and Mozambique, and new markets are expected to open soon in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
In this business area, we already operate in markets such as Portugal, where we are market leaders, Spain, Italy, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, East Timor and more recently in the United Arab Emirates.
